CHECKLOGS:   G0OPH, MU0FAL

SOAPBOX:

2E0KOP
Busy band great fun CU agn on 80m CC

2E0NBR
Great stuff for a 1st contest

2E0NCG
Much more activity than last year! Condx's very good and a number of M3s active

2E0SBE
Band conditions very good. As first time user very impressed with SD found it very user friendly

2E0XIS
good fun a nice way to spend a saturday afternoon

2E1GUA
Good fun on 80m a little qrm but still ok. A new antenna this year it is a vertical buddipole 80m
only with wire counterpise 66ft. Logging software is SD from paul EI5DI. Thanks to all that worked me.

G0AAA
Used our club call G0AAA - easier to use on phone than G3WVG!

G0ADH
Very busy band but good to hear so much activity.

G0AJJ
Duplicate MM3OMI insisted hadn't worked me!

G0AOD
very many stations good fun

G0EYO
bands very lively

G0EYR
SD worked well

G0GDU
FT1000 + LIN - 400W into W3DZZ at 25ft due to high winds. Started well on S+P but with S9 noise levels in first two hours only able to find and hold a rund freq in the last hour. 2 short power cuts did not help.

G0GFQ
Lots of noise and with my limited antenna it was hard work but I had a go

G0ICJ
Reasonably low noise level and good conditions

G0JLF
Slow start and got worse. Thankful for visitors that meant I finished early.

G0KDS
problems with logging during middle couple of hours, and antenna at less than 15 foot

G0KYS
Hard going from down in the South West. Couldn't hold a frequency or get a run going at all so S&P only for 1st 3.75 hours! As it got fully dark things improved and I did get a run going at 17.53!

G0LHZ
Tough tough tough - QRM horrific

G0MRH
Wall to wall QRM but possible to get into a three figure score with search and pounce plus a short time running.

G0OPH
First contest and using SD log which I quickly downloaded just prior to me starting.I missed
the start of the contest however and offer this log as a checklog to learn how to submit in future.

G0PSE
Condx very poor. SD worked perfectly again

G0UGO
That was a struggle!

G0VDZ
Great contest this year. Had a great strt but lost it later on. Must learn to keep up the rate.

G0VGS
Hard work with the band conditions

G0VJG
nice to see so many stations on even some just giving a few points away

G0WWD
A lot of activity and band conditions were good I use SD for all my contests

G0WXJ
QRM heavy going. First year as WRAA Club great fun

G1BHR
Late on - antenna problems

G1OAC
so easy with sd

G1ZTN
intended to use a vertical for this contest but found it lacking so made up a dipole got back on the air
after 20mins. QRM very bad after dusk

G3EAO
MADHOUSE !

G3JJZ
I went fron 1719 to 1740 without any QSOs so gave up!  I don't know how "they" average 1/min or more for 4 hours.   I think I'll invest in a DX4 linear for next year!

G3KLH
Excessive splatter on some loud stations

G3LET
I really struggled in this one especially during the last two hours when skip lengthened and noise level
increased. A lot more recently licenced stations were active in this event whichis most encouraging for the contest scene.

G3LHJ
Had a late start. Condx good, with the usual QRM it was difficult to find a hole and keep it

G3LIK
About time this contest was limited to 100 watts, too many stations running high power and spreading 3 khz either side which is not on in a club contest with so many new comers. Lot of stations do not phoneticise their calls making it difficult to get the call

G3LLK
Searched only - no CQ. Late starting trying to get antenna back up after gales.

G3NFC
Next year a wideband PA will be used

G3NLY
100w to a shortened dipole.

G3RWL
Time for a rule change regarding team numbers. 5 on CW and 3 on SSB ain't fair any more.

G3RXQ
100 Watts from K2/100 into Doublet at 18m only doing 3 hours of the contest.

G3SJJ
Just 30 minutes to go before the start and I found I had an open circuit microphone lead on the Heil headset. Had to take the ear peice apart and wire a second lead in parallel with the offending o/c lead.
Having finished that just 5 minutes before the start I could not find a run frequency so did S&P until I finally lost interest and switched off at 1700.

G3SVD
A good contest but I did object when a very strong station played music on top of me. I was called by another contestant who advised me that the music was 10dB strong than my signal, I had no choice but to move. I went back to have a look a few minutes later to find the frequency occupied by two German speaking stations! This occurred in the "no Contest" band 3650-3700.  As it seems to upset DLs may I suggest that as in the HFCC contests, that we do not use this band.  Also I would like to suggest that the permitted power be reduced to say 100W. Apart from that occurence and being driven off anothe frequency by DLs saying "no contest here" it was an enjoyable experience.

G3SVW
A major floor tiling job prevented full participation And yes SD was useful for post-contest logging
Used conventional paper logging in contest.

G3SXW
QRP 10 watts PEP is pure masochism in this contest!

G3TBK
fine at start but awful conditions in last hour. FT1000MP 400w Ant Dipole at 70 feet
Would prefer to start an hour earlier, but I know GMs are against that

G3TXF
Best ever AFS-SSB. There's no doubt about it - those 80m CCs have generated loads more UK contest activity. Well done HFCC!

G3ULT/P
Dan was determined to beat last years score which he did by 102 points. Fantastic contest. Dan had a great time. He was even more pleased at beating my 214 in the CW leg. Supervised by G0VQR.

G3VAO
150 KHz is inadequate as the "big" boys with the wide signals use the available space. Proposed solution limit time spent running to 2hours. The other 2 hours (times to be stated in the entry) to be spent S&P.

G3VER
Good level of activity.Worked a TF1 station when band opened later. Thanks to HFCC comitee

G3VYI
Nice to work all  the usuals  and  good  condx but better on  the key !!

G3WNI
Good Conditions. Used SD

G3WRR
RIG - TenTec Orion
ANTENNAS - Inverted L, 50ft top @ 20ft
Had to re-erect the antenna before I got on. I really don't like SSB event!

G3YHV
I stopped after 2 hours  -  fed up with the din !

G3YIQ
Struggling to get out as good a signal as last year so still
need to do some antenna work! Noisy band and not my best result.

G3YOA
Good contest

G3ZAY
Lots of German QSOs this time and no complaints from DL

G3ZBU
I had a problem with the coax feeder. Otherwise good and plenty of activity.

G3ZGC
Many problems with deliberate EU jamming with music. Rig IC775DSP 200w 132 ft wire wrapped in 55 ft garden. Up 33ft. Comparatively enjoyable but lots of noises from TVs did not help. RF got into PC adjusting some calls and serials! A nightmare!

G4AIU
Very enjoyable. Heavy QRM. SD worked great

G4ARN/P
local static caused a few problems but good fun

G4CWH
Pretty quick out of the box; slowed considerably when someone parked too close. Like last year propagation into G turned off suddenly at the end - thank heavens for helpful continentals

G4CYG
Found everyone very friendly. No problems and enjoyed the contest

G4CZB
Heard some big scores - seems propagation consistently good throughout the UK.

G4DDX
bands were normal-good to start with- faded later when only strong stations could be heard- came up before the end into europe. I need a better aerial for 80 and a linear!!!! it was fun

G4DFI
Very enjoyable and easy to use.

G4EBK
Not my favorite mode. Big struggle from this part of the country. Many big signals but mine was
not one of them. 100W to /\ Dipole, 10 Mtrs Ctr. Disappointing 114Qs this year. 206Qs last year.

G4ERW
Fast and furious! My best QSO total ever for AFS.

G4EZT
Band full as usual, GM signals outstandingly strong. 1/4 wave vertical not ideal for G test

G4FBS
Many stations spreading excessively

G4FKA
Usual mad house! Must get an amplifier.

G4FNL
Good AFS. Great first hour. OK in the 2nd hour. Diabolical in the 3rd and 4th hours!

G4FQR
I used SD for logging - it's great.

G4HHJ
First 1.5 hours lost due to family shopping trip.  Then, I had to cook dinner and eat it, so more time lost.  Fabulous fun - wall to wall signals, with no space anywhere. Equipment - FT847, 100W to inverted-L, with top section at about 9 m agl.

G4HSO
Only managed 1st hour due to other commitments. Hope to be back for full contest next year.
Conditions seemed reasonable. Thanks to the committee.

G4HSU
Wire antenna about 15m long, 6m high,  0.8m ASL.

G4KLF
Smelt burning from tcvr, switched to another rig but lost 45 minutes.

G4LWB
Enjoyable contest some QRM and strong signals

G4RCD
Struggled to hold a frequency at all.  The level of QRM was extremely high throughout - my receiver was suffering, even with the 20dB attenuator in. Looking forward to the 80m Club Championships, where at least the playing field, in terms of transmitter power, is level!

G4WGE
This has got to be my least favourite contest of the HF VHF and Microwave calender. The CW AFS is much more civilised!

G4YTV
Unable to find a freq. to call CQ without clobbering someone.  Most freq. occupied well before the contest started.

G6FRB
First time operating in HF contest. Really enjoyed it even if conditions were very crowded at times

G6FSP
Not good manors by some by drifting into "your" frequency.  Good fun still. Shame I did not work any
GI stations to make the UK haul complete!

G7PVZ
Crowded band lots of noise and stations falling over one another. Good fun and light hearted.
Nice to hear M3's and YL ops.

G7VJR
Surprised by anti-contest QRM from G stations. Excellent contest operating and some amazing scores!

G7VRK
Good contest about one hour in my balun shorted out so had to stop and replace  lost about 3/4 hour
usesd SD for loging as always

G8FMJ/P
TS850S (100W) + INVERTED VEE

G8LED/P
Could only do 45 minutes - had to go to work.

G8XDX
First time for this contest noisy but great fun. SD is easy to use and works well

GM0TQJ
Some of the big stations were causing to much splatter

GM3JKS
Mains power off until 15:30 - bad start

GM3WUX
The best I've ever done, conditions favoured us this time.

GM3ZBE
First ever AFS SSB contest! Brian 2E0BRD

GM4OBD
SD worked a treat again. Main drag factor is the typing!!

M0AEU
Good contest plenty of activity difficult to find a space on the bands...

M0DHO
Very busy on 80m. As usual the battle was with the QRM. Great to see so many participants.

M0EBG
Got very noisey in the last hour

M0EDY
very hard work lots of qrm /qsb put good fun

M0FRH
Good fun thanks to all.

M0MBO
KENWOOD TS870S AND VERTICAL

M0PTO/P
Thanks to Malcolm G3PDH for the loan of his shack. Heavy QRM and long skip towards end.

M0SEL
Only able to operate half the time

M0SPC
Good fun tnx to all

M0TDG
Good fun as always.  Seemed to be the busiest year yet!

M0TVG
First time entry and enjoyed the contest

M0XDF
Lost the antenna 30 mins in and had to fix that. Then had complaints about my audio.

M0XJP
Very enjoyable as usual also hard work near to the QRO boys!

M1EBV
Nice and noisy. All S&P

M3NLK

M3WCU

M3WYX

MM0GPZ
Spent 3 hours getting dipole up and only finished at 2:15pm. S&P'd lazily until 4:30 then ran till end..
Looking forward to 80CC now.

MM0WPM
Slow until darkness about 1600
