4th 144MHz Backpackers Contest of 2005

Good weather and good band conditions were the theme reported by most of the entrants in this contest. Activity was high with most entrants able to work continental DX.

The standard of logging was much better in this Backpacker session with an average of only 10% of points lost. Six stations managed to turn in logs with less than 1% points loss - well done to those stations. Several entrants also commented that logging would be made easier if all stations sent their details in the 'correct' order - report, serial number, locator and finally post code (if applicable). A disordered contest exchange can lead to confusion and error.

In the 10W Multi-operator section G0KYS/P was the comfortable winner with G0HDV/P in second place.

The 3W Multi-operator section was won by the Malvern Hills B team, GW4IDF/P with the SOTA Rebels, M0SUM/P in second place.

The 10W Single Operator section was won by Geoff Morris, GW3ATZ/P with Dave Hewitt, GW8ZRE/P in second place.

The 3W Single Operator section was won by Hilton Willott, MW0OPS/P with Charlie Jordan, GW0PZO/P occupying the runners-up spot.

The leading Intermediate Station certificate was won by Ralph Gault, 2I0RPM/P.
