Entry levels for this contest were significantly down on last year, perhaps
accounted for in part by the UK Six Metre Group’s AGM being held at the
Kempton Park Show on the same day. Most of those who ventured out to operate
portable enjoyed good weather, though propagation conditions were generally
reported as average. The standard of logging was varied, with ten error free
logs but several others losing more than 10% of their claimed score. Two entrants
were logged as having been operating below 50.130MHz, within the international
dx window, and have been notified of this.
The Single operator Fixed section was won by Bryn Llewellyn G4DEZ with Steve White G3ZVW as runner-up, Dave Hook M5ADF the leading fixed station using 25W or less to a single antenna and James Beatwell 2E1GUA the leading intermediate licensee. GD0EMG, operated by Andy Kissack GD0TEP and Robert Ferguson GD4GNH won the Open section with Trevor Harris G2KF, operating portable, as runner-up. Congratulations to all of them, who will receive certificates.

Entrants’ remarks
2E1GUA
Good fun. Wind damage on beam, colinear only
GD0EMG
A pity the MS wasn't a little better, could have then completed with more of the Italians heard.
G1KHX/P
Hazy sunshine. Fair activity, some QSB.
G2HDF/P
Lovely weather but sadly no real DX. Still pleased with what we did work with 2.5watts.
G2KF/P
QSB Meteor Pings. Lost a few. Had poor VSWR
G3MEH
Propagation conditions fairly average, no Es here. Reasonable activity.
GW3ORL
Flat and unexciting.
G3XNO/P
Pressure 1005mb and falling, cumulus cloud with sunny spells. Condx above normal as we could hear GB3BAA on 50.016MHz constantly. Enjoyed the contest as always.
G3ZVW
Conditions flat, except for reported meteor pings and bursts from DL.
G4ADV
Very Quiet
G4DEZ
Only one Italian not much else in the way of DX but UK activity up. Thanks to all those who persevered and managed it
GW4EVX/P
First go at a 50MHz contest - very enjoyable. WX was great also!
G4HLX/P
One short burst of Es. But good level of activity in the UK.
G4WXM/P
Despite some issues with local beacon, which seemed to be audible across the entire 50MHz band, and some issues with the log setup and what we were supposed to be logging, the contest went quite well.
G4XPE
Fair conditions but bad qsb.
G7FWE/P
Good to see so much UK activity. Was just trying out various bits of equipment ready for field day.
G8SRL
Conditions were average with no DX. The activity was down a little but then it was the AGM of the UKSMG at Kempton Park so several locals were at that.
M0DDT
Slow going - getting like 70cms!
M5ADF
Good at start, QSB later on, quiet last hour
