70MHz Trophy 2005

Total entries were down slightly from 2004 however the competition for top placings appeared to intensify, especially in the Multi-Operator section. In all, over 170 different callsigns appeared in the received logs.
Many stations reported strong inter UK signals, however no Sporadic-E contacts appear to have been worked. The Northern Lights CG, GD0EMG managed to complete a Meteor Scatter QSO with 70MHz regular, Ivan, S51DI. Best tropo DX goes to Stewart, GM4AFF, who completed what he described as a "messy" QSO with OZ2LD, which was also assisted with occasional Meteor Scatter enhancements.
The Multi-Operator section was even more closely contested than in 2004, with three groups all having similar QSO and multiplier totals, the eventual winners being decided by their logging accuracy. Congratulations to The Kintyre Window Cleaners CG, GM3TCU/P who take top place and the VHF Manager's Trophy. Last years winners, The Five Bells CG, GM4SIV/P, finished a close second.
Bryn Llewellyn, G4DEZ, as in 2004, wins the Single operator Fixed section with Steve Redfern, G4AEQ finishing a close second.
In the Single Operator, Others section, first place goes to Kevin, G2KF/P, who takes the Four Metre Cup, with Michael Wright, G8SRL/P in second place.
Dave Hook, M5ADF, and Ivan Davies, G3IZD/P are awarded certificates for being the highest placed stations in their sections using 25W or less and a single antenna.
