2006 70 MHz Cumulative Contest

Placings in this contest are determined by the addition of the best 3 normalised scores achieved by each contestant over five sessions. In general, the word 'poor' was used by entrants, when describing weather, activity and conditions - sometimes all at once and referring to all sessions ! Most agreed that session 3 was the most dismal. A less gloomy observation was the arrival of some new stations on the band. G0HIK/P was one of those delighted by their first experience of a 70 MHz contest. This is the last cumulative contest where QTH information is required to be exchanged. Log keeping of actual exchanges was in general rather good. However, the abilities of some to enter the correct time and date in their logging program must be questioned. One suffered an intermittent 20 minute displacement. One was 4 days out and one was 9 months out ! No-one was unduly penalised - this time.

The winner of the 'Other' section, which comprises multi-operator fixed and portable stations, is Flight Refuelling ARS G4RFR, followed by Dave Austen G1EHF/P in second place. In the 'Single operator Fixed' section, first place goes to Robert Ferguson GD4GNH, followed by Bryn Llewellyn G4DEZ in second place. Certificates are awarded to these four; it being noted that G1EHF/P achieved his second placing, while running only 25 watts output. A Certificate is also awarded to Les Featherstone G6UBM as the leading station in the SF section, running 25 watts or less. Congratulations to all.
