This contest continues to be dominated by the weather. Over the vast majority of the country conditions were atrocious with snow, blizzards, rain and flooded fields featuring in entrant's comments. One GM was unable to reach his normal site. In complete contrast, G8LNC/P reported fine, dry and warm conditions! Despite these conditions, the number of portable entries increased. Equipment problems were weather related with snow and ice in connectors and damp conditions affecting generators. Conditions on 144MHz were described as average at best with heavy fading and a number of stations were plagued by static rain. However there were a large number of good distance contacts and periods of propagation into F, PA and DL. On 432MHz there was a dearth of activity with many people struggling to make contacts. Congratulations to the certificate winners (*) and in particular to G0KPW (operated by Bob G4BAH) who was the overall leading station on 144MHz despite being a single operator and the Five Bells group as the overall winners of the event.
